Background

Much of the new knowledge in situational crime prevention remains limited to universities and research institutes. A key aim of this network is to engage academics, safety experts, police officers and practitioners of different fields in knowledge creation, exchange, and diffusion by providing a one-stop information hub for situational crime prevention in Sweden.

Safeplaces is an interdisciplinary network that links local needs for knowledge in situational crime prevention to a national and international network of experts and institutions. The network has its basis at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden and, creates a number of initiatives devoted to the improvement of local knowledge and information sharing about the conditions in which crime occur and the best ways to prevent it.
